‘Mother Lines’ selected by Photo Vogue
There is something incredibly special about the quiet moments of early motherhood. The closeness, the familiarity, the little details that might feel ordinary at the time but become some of the most treasured memories as the years pass.
This intimate motherhood session with Adele and her little one, Matti, was all about capturing those moments.
A slower kind of storytelling. An opportunity to simply be together, without expectations or the need to make everything look a certain way. Just motherhood as it is.
The gentle weight of a little body resting against yours. The instinctive closeness of feeding. The warmth of skin against skin. The way your arms naturally find their way around the little person who once lived beneath your heart.
I wanted to capture the beauty in these details, creating photographs that felt honest, intimate and full of feeling.
One of the images from this session, a close-up of Adele holding Matti, was recently selected by Photo Vogue. It was such a special moment for me to have an image so deeply rooted in the quiet, everyday reality of motherhood recognised in this way.
It's a photograph that represents so much of what I love about documenting motherhood. Not perfection, not carefully constructed moments, but the rawness and beauty of the connection between mother and child.
Because these days are made up of so many little things. The feeding, the holding, the comforting, the endless closeness. And although they can sometimes feel long while we're living them, they are fleeting.
I believe mothers deserve to be in these memories, too. Not just taking the photographs, but being part of them.
