Mother's Day Mini Session at Half Moon Bay with Leah & Georgie
There is something incredibly special about photographing mothers with their children.
Not because everything is perfectly coordinated or because little ones stand still and smile at the camera. Quite the opposite, in fact.
The magic is found in the cuddles that happen naturally, the tiny hands reaching for reassurance, the laughter that bubbles up unexpectedly, and the way a child instinctively melts into their mother's embrace.
That was exactly what made this Mother's Day Mini Session with Leah and her daughter Georgie so beautiful.

Set against the wild beauty of Half Moon Bay, we spent a gentle spring morning exploring the shoreline, collecting treasures, sharing cuddles and simply enjoying being together. The sea air was fresh, the light was soft, and the beach provided the perfect backdrop for a collection of photographs that felt honest, natural and full of love.
From the moment they arrived, Georgie's personality shone through. Curious, playful and full of wonder, she was completely immersed in the adventure of being at the beach. One moment she was exploring the sand beneath her feet, the next she was wrapped safely in her mum's arms, soaking up those precious moments of connection that can so easily slip by unnoticed in the busyness of everyday life.
These are always my favourite moments to photograph.
Not the posed smiles.
Not the moments where everyone is looking at the camera.
But the in-between moments.
The way Leah looked at Georgie with such tenderness. The giggles they shared together. The little hugs and hand squeezes. The way Georgie nestled into her mum's shoulder when she needed comfort before running off to explore again.
Those small moments tell the real story.

Half Moon Bay is one of my favourite locations for motherhood sessions because it encourages children to simply be themselves. There is space to run, play and explore without pressure. The sound of the waves creates a sense of calm, and the wide open skies seem to slow everything down for a little while.
It allows families to focus on what matters most: being together.
As the session unfolded, we wandered amongst the rocks, paused for cuddles in the soft morning light, and embraced the beautiful unpredictability that comes with photographing young children. Georgie led the way, as children often do, and together we created a gallery filled with genuine moments rather than forced poses.
Looking through their images afterwards, I was reminded once again why these Mother's Day Mini Sessions mean so much to me.

As mothers, we are so often the ones taking the photographs.
We capture birthdays, beach days, first steps and everyday moments, yet somehow we rarely appear in the frame ourselves. Years later, our children won't be looking for perfect photographs. They'll simply want to see us there beside them. They'll want to remember how it felt to be held, comforted and loved.
That's what sessions like this preserve.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Just love.
Leah and Georgie's gallery is filled with the kind of moments that will only become more precious with time. The windswept hair, sandy toes, joyful laughter and quiet cuddles all tell the story of this fleeting season of motherhood.
And what a beautiful season it is.
