Spring Mini Session at Trowbarrow Quarry with the Teasdale Family

Spring Light & One-Year Milestones | The Teasdale Family
There is something about spring that feels like a quiet exhale.
The light softens. Blossom drifts on the breeze. The earth wakes up again. And somehow, in the middle of all that gentle change, our children grow — almost overnight.
When I met up with the Teasdale family for their spring mini session, baby Max was on the cusp of turning one. It was the second time I had the honour of photographing him, and I found myself doing that thing I always do… mentally flicking back to our last session and wondering how time could possibly move so quickly.
Just a few months ago he felt so tiny. Now he is curious, steady, determined — sitting independently, exploring textures, gripping his tambourine with complete concentration, reaching for petals and pebbles with those dimpled hands that won’t stay little for long.
And his parents? Watching them soak him in — that quiet pride, that soft laughter, that “can you believe he’s nearly one?” look between them — that is the real magic.
The Beauty of a Spring Backdrop
Spring sessions hold a very particular kind of romance.
Soft greens replace winter’s muted tones. Blossom frames your family in the most delicate way. Light filters through fresh leaves and creates the dreamiest, natural glow. There’s movement in the air — a lightness — and it mirrors this fleeting season of motherhood and early childhood so perfectly.
For Bridget and Richard, we created a relaxed, nature-filled setting. A simple blanket. Gentle florals. Bare feet. Space for Max to explore safely while they stayed close enough for cuddles and kisses.
Nothing overly styled. Nothing forced.
Just connection.

The Miracle in the In-Between
One of the greatest privileges of my work is seeing families more than once.
To document the change in just a few months is extraordinary. The way cheeks soften. The way eye contact deepens. The way parents grow into their confidence. The way a baby who once curled into mum’s chest now wriggles to sit upright and see the world.
It never stops feeling like a miracle to me.
Max’s almost-one energy filled this session — equal parts independence and still wanting to be gathered into his dad’s arms. That beautiful in-between stage. Not quite baby, not quite toddler.
These are the moments that slip through our fingers if we don’t pause to hold them still.
Why Spring Mini Sessions Are So Special
If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photographs, spring truly is one of the most magical times to do it.
Here’s why:
🌿 Soft, flattering natural light
🌸 Fresh seasonal textures and blossom
👣 Comfortable temperatures for little ones
🤍 Neutral, earthy colour palettes that photograph beautifully
⏳ A perfect moment to capture pre-summer growth spurts
Mini sessions are designed to be simple and relaxed. They are shorter in length (perfect for busy families and wiggly toddlers), thoughtfully styled, and centred entirely around connection rather than perfection.
You don’t need perfectly behaved children.
You don’t need to know how to pose.
You just need to show up as you are.
I will gently guide you, find the light, and create space for the moments that naturally unfold.

On the Edge of One
There is something especially tender about photographing a baby just before their first birthday.
It’s the closing of a chapter.
The end of that first, dizzying, beautiful year.
For the Teasdale family, this session feels like a love letter to that season — to milky cuddles and soft cheeks and the way Max looks at his parents like they are his whole world.
Because right now, they are.
Spring Mini Sessions – Now Launching
